Talk of the matter
The ADR Institute of Canada (ADRIC) is all set for its highly anticipated National Conference for arbitrators, mediators, and everyone in the field of conflict resolution. This is taking place on October 24-25, 2024, at the Fairmont Royal York Hotel in downtown Toronto.
This premier event will gather arbitrators, mediators, and dispute resolution professionals from across the country and beyond, fostering a collaborative environment to discuss the latest trends and challenges in the field.
The 50th AGM and Annual National Conference will bring together leaders from the ADR sector, organizations and government from across the country to provide attendees with inspiring, innovative and interactive plenary, keynotes, hands-on workshops, comprehensive panel discussions and great networking opportunities.
This year’s conference theme, “Innovating Arbitration: Embracing Change and Diversity,” reflects the evolving nature of dispute resolution in a globalized world. Attendees can look forward to a robust agenda featuring keynote speeches, panel discussions, and interactive workshops designed to enhance their skills and knowledge.
The conference will feature a lineup of distinguished speakers, including Attorney General Doug Downey, who will deliver the opening keynote address.
Other notable speakers include Michael Schafler, President of ADRIC, Gary Lacasse, Executive Director, Megan Keenberg, Eric Morgan, Prof. Joshua Karton, Mary E Comeau, Lisa Munro, and Ron Kraybill.
The mediation arm of the 2-day event will also feature two special presentations:
- How to Build a Successful Mediation Practice Using Remote Technology – Gary & Leslie Kettring.
- Leveraging Credentials and Designations for Building a Successful Career in Mediation and Arbitration – Pramila Javaher.
These experts will lead engaging sessions on topics such as the future of ADR, ethical considerations, and best practices in arbitration and mediation.
Attendees can look forward to a series of inspiring, innovative, and interactive plenary sessions, keynotes, hands-on workshops, and comprehensive panel discussions.
The conference will also feature a variety of breakout sessions covering critical topics such as the integration of technology in arbitration, best practices for managing complex disputes, and the role of international arbitration in Canadian law.
These sessions aim to equip attendees with practical tools and strategies to navigate the challenges they face in their professional practices.
Networking opportunities will be abundant, with dedicated times for participants to connect, share experiences, and build relationships with peers and industry leaders. This aspect of the conference is particularly valuable, as it allows for the exchange of ideas and collaboration on future initiatives.
The ADRIC Conference is Canada’s largest, most prestigious and most important ADR event; every major firm and company with an interest in reaching those in the field should be associated.
ADRIC President Michael Schafler said, “We are excited to bring together a diverse group of experts to explore how we can collectively advance the practice of arbitration and mediation in Canada.”
